ESCA Africa Case Conference – Call for Cases
The ESCA Africa Case Conference invites educators, researchers, practitioners, and doctoral candidates to submit case studies and case projects that reflect African business realities, entrepreneurial dynamics, managerial decision-making challenges, and innovation ecosystems.
The conference provides a developmental and collaborative space to strengthen case writing, case teaching, and case dissemination practices across Africa, while ensuring global teaching relevance.
Case Submission Formats
1. Full Cases
Fully developed teaching cases suitable for undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate programmes. Submissions should include:
Case study manuscript
Teaching note (recommended)
Exhibits, datasets, or multimedia materials (optional)
Cases must be based on real organisational situations or managerial decisions (primary or secondary data) set in an African context or involving African organisations (private sector, public sector, NGOs, social enterprises). All management and business disciplines are eligible.
2. Case Projects (Cases in Progress)
Authors with cases under development may submit a case project proposal including:
Title and brief overview
Case synopsis (context, protagonist, date, place, decision dilemma)
Location, industry, and sector
Relevance for African and global business education
Key issues and learning objectives
Primary teaching themes (e.g. strategy, leadership, sustainability, digital transformation, ESG, public policy, social business). All management and business disciplines are eligible
Target audience and course level
Data sources and feasibility plan
Submission Guidelines
*All submissions must be*:
Original and unpublished in journals, textbooks, or case collections
Based on real organisational scenarios (primary or secondary data)
Written in English
*Written in French with an English abstract*
Submitted electronically via the conference portal or by email : africacaselab@esca.ma
Authors retain full copyright over their work. Selected cases may be considered for publication with partner publishers.
The conference will be held fully in person. Physical attendance is mandatory for all accepted case presentations.
Evaluation Criteria and Outcomes
Submissions will be evaluated based on:
Relevance and originality of the African context
International teaching potential
Clarity of learning objectives
Rigor of research, case methodology and narrative quality
Suitability for academic and executive teaching
Accepted submissions must be presented in person at the conference (at least one co-author). Outstanding cases may receive publication opportunities, editorial mentorship, or special recognition during the conference.
